A priest disobeys church law to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece.
Here's what I think (spoiler alert):
Humans and vampires are at war (again). So the church creates a group of vampire-fighting priests to eliminate the blood-thirsty predators. The priests successfully wipe out the vast majority of the vampires, but then the church disbands them, forcing them to integrate back into the church dominated society. There are some people who choose to live outside of church's control, at their own risk.
When the family of "Priest" is killed by suspected vampires, he goes to the church to ask that his duties be reinstated, the church adamantly refuses, convinced that the vampires are still dormant. Priest decides that his blood ties are stronger than his ties to the church, so he goes to save his niece and avenge his family.
The cinematography is dark and appropriate for a vampire flick. The opening scene really grabbed me and set the tone for the movie. There were a few fighting scenes that were awesome - great action! I wished there had been a little bit more of a background story, so that the audience could have a better perspective of the Priest. Overall I enjoyed this movie, although there were parts that were a bit choppy, but it was decent. Certainly not the best vampire flick I've ever seen, but not the worst either.
