Sprint Fit Live - Fitness at your fingertips! #Sponsored #MC #SprintMom

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf Influence Central for Sprint. I received sample devices to facilitate this review. All views expressed are the honest opinion of Just Say I Told You So.

Since I turned 40, I have totally stepped up my fitness game. I don't know if I've simply become hyperaware of my mortality or if subtle aches of being 40-ish have me on edge... probably both. Either way I exercise more now than I ever have in my adult life. And while I don't think I will ever be the type of person that loves to work out, I am now the kind of person who works out regularly.

When it comes to working out, convenience has to be the most important thing. For me, exercise has to be accessible and easy. And that goes for all tools and equipment too. That's why I think that Sprint Fit Live is so cool.

Sprint Fit Live is not just an app, it's a "complete mobile health and fitness package." And to make the experience even more comprehensive, Sprint has partnered with Samsung, Under Armour, and MapMyFitness to introduce the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport!

The Galaxy S5 Sport is not your average cellphone. It allows you to keep track of your workouts, it monitors your heart rate, and tracks your progress.

MapMyFitness is like a GPS system that tracks your fitness activities like: distance, duration, speed, pace, elevation, calories burned, and the route you traveled.

A few weeks ago I had an opportunity to participate in a fitness demonstration at a local Sprint store. So I was able to witness and experience Sprint Fit Live and the Galaxy S5 Sport first hand.

The ability to track your progress on the Samsung Gear Fit was my favorite part. I know how much I "guess" my progress, which means I spend a lot of time giving myself more credit than I deserve for progress that I may or may not have achieved. But these savvy tools eliminate the guess work altogether.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is exclusive to Sprint. And they're offering some very cool purchase incentives:
  • MapMyFitness - free for one year.
  • Sprint Fit Live - free
  • Spotify Premium - free for 6 or 3 months
  • Samsung Gear Fit- $50 off
If you've been putting off making exercise a regular part of your life, maybe setting yourself up with tools of success is just what you need!

Visit your local Sprint store, follow them on Facebook and Twitter too.

The Equalizer - Self Defense Training

The Equalizer (starring Denzel Washington), is the story of a man who believes in justice. His life is quiet and seemingly normal, but his attempt at normalcy is disrupted when he encounters a young girl under the control of Russian gangsters.  Unable to stand by and watch while helpless people are attacked by hoodlums, he uses his "hidden skills," to obtain retribution.

The main premise of the film is that Robert McCall (Washington) uses his martial arts skill to help people who can't help themselves. Which got me thinking... if I were being attacked by an assailant, could I defend myself? Before a few days ago, I would have said probably not, but that was before I participated in the Equalizer self-defense training at McDuffy's Kajukenbo Self-defense Institute

Located in Inglewood, CA, McDuffy's Kajukenbo specializes in self-defense training techniques, tournament sparring, weapons self-defense, and street fighting.  They even offer special programs for children, which includes transportation to and from his after school tutoring and martial arts program. The institute is run by Sifu Cliff McDuffy and his family.

The training was only for one hour, but that was a very looooong hour! It had been quite a while since I had such an intense workout, but I'm not complaining. This wasn't just any total body workout. In the span of an hour I learned how to fend off an attacker, in a very effective way. I'm not just talking escape here, I learned how to put someone down long enough to put some serious distance between me and danger.

Sifu Cliff is professional, engaging and encouraging. He connected with every person on the floor, while making sure that the moves were being performed with accuracy and intensity. Sifu Cliff says, "if you're being attacked, your attacker isn't going to wait for you to get ready," that's why you have to be serious and prepared for anything.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and if I'm ever in a situation where it is necessary to defend myself... I can. Although I hadn't given it very much thought before, I feel better knowing that I know a few moves that could potentially save my life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Equalizer will be in theaters on Friday, September 26th

This is not a paid post. I was invited to the free self-defense training, as a part of The Equalizer promotion, by THAurban. All views expressed are the honest opinion of Just Say I Told You So.

How to Prepare for Your First Yoga Class

Maybe you’ve finally decided to enter the realm of Yoga. Your sessions will help you to develop a sense of balance between your mind, body and spirit. If you are anxiously anticipating your first yoga class, then you will want to properly prepare yourself so that you can maximize the health benefits. The following are some tips on getting yourself ready for your first ever practice.

Hydrate
You will need to properly hydrate yourself so that you will have extra liquids when you engage in Yoga stretching and movement the first time. Make sure you drink several glasses of water or Gatorade at least two hours before your session. Your increased fluid intake will help you to prevent dehydration when you engage in increased activities.
Take a Hot Bath (Before or After!)
Yoga is an activity that essentially promotes relaxation. You can help bring forth your relaxed state by taking a hot bath before your session. A hot bath with eucalyptus or lavender oils will release any tension that you have in the body. It will also loosen your muscles and promote flexibility.
Clear Your Mind
Another way that you can prepare yourself for your first yoga session is by clearing your mind of stressful thoughts ahead of time. You can do this by practicing meditation before class. To meditate properly, you will need to find a quiet area in your home where you can steer your thought process in a positive direction. You may also choose to find a comfortable spot outside. You will want to take long, slow, deep breaths while focusing on the rise and fall of your lungs. Tune in to the movement and focus your thoughts on your upcoming yoga class.
Dress Comfortably
You will want to wear appropriate clothing when you head to your first yoga session. Spandex is a good choice of material because it enables flexibility. Lululemon founder Chip Wilson swears by his company’s yoga attire. The clothing is meant to allow for optimal movement and relaxation. Most of the time, yoga is practiced with bare feet so shoes are not necessary. Chip Wilson advises individuals of all ages and fitness levels to try yoga and reap the health benefits of the activity.

The last thing you need to do to prepare yourself for your first yoga lesson is to bring a positive attitude to class. You must leave behind all of the troubles and struggles of the day and allow positive energy to flow through your body as you begin the flowing movements.

Via Privé Review

So we're four months into 2012 and if you're like me you've probably scrapped all that resolution stuff (3.5 months ago). One of the things that we all pledge to do is eat less and exercise more.  I'm the first to admit that I am not doing so great with that (probably never will). Most of us have to work really hard to keep our figures, then there are those people (like my little sister) who do very little to keep slim and trim.

When the opportunity arose to review products from Via Privé I was so excited! They offer workout wear that is both fabulous and comfortable. My little sister was kind enough to model this incredible outfit:

The logo (a Bengali Om), which I love, "depicts an open, resting heart, which represents love and happiness, while its sideways resting position symbolizes peace and serenity, bringing to life the perfect balance." Isn't that powerful?

This yoga inspired apparel is designed to move. From yoga pants, crops, and shorts to tanks, tops, and sports bras - they've got you covered! Via Privé also donates one article of clothing to child in need for every order received, "Buy One Give One." Plus shipping is always free (in the US and Canada). I really dig everything that Via Privé stands for, social consciousness at its best.

Check out the stitching, very well made
There is nothing like looking good to get you motivated, so why don't you hop over to the Via Privé website and pick up so new exercise apparel. You can also follow on Twitter and like them on Facebook.

I received the outfit pictured in this post for free. I was not required to write a positive review. The views expressed are the opinion on Just Say I Told You So.

Review: Hot Pants

I received a pair of Zaggora's Hot Pants for review. When they arrived in the mail, I thought they looked like biker shorts - wetsuit style!

Hot Pants are designed to make you hot. You can wear them while you work out, underneath your clothes, or even while you're bumping around the house. Hot Pants cause your body's natural heat to reflect back on itself, causing it to flush out the toxins and help break down cellulite. All you have to do is wear them 30 minutes a day to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

I have worn them several times while taking walks and they do make you HOT! Since my thighs are a bit "plump" they were a little bit noisy at first (imagine the swish of fabric rubbing together...well you get the picture). I haven't begun to see results yet (I also haven't worn them regularly enough to see results either), but we'll see what happens.

I encourage you to visit the Hot Pants website to read for yourself. You can also follow them on Twitter. Check them out on Facebook they're giving away a trip to Rio and 500 pairs of Hot Pants!

Come on...what do you have to lose besides a few inches? 2012 will be here before you know it...you might as well smooth out your thighs so that you can look "hot" next year!
